Zap Quick Start

Use this guide to record, save, and replay your first browser workflow with the XY Browser Agent.

Check-circle Before you begin

Make sure you have:

  • Chrome or another Chromium-based browser
  • the Browser Agent installed
  • access to the XY workspace you want to use
  • a simple task you perform regularly in a website or portal

Rocket Record your first workflow

Choose a task that is repetitive and easy to test, such as:

  • checking status in a portal
  • entering information into a web form
  • downloading or uploading a file

Step 1: Open the side panel

  1. Open the Browser Agent.
  2. Sign in if needed.
  3. Open the side panel.

Step 2: Start recording

  1. Click Start Recording.
  2. Choose the recording options you want to capture.
  3. Grant permissions if Chrome asks for them.
  4. Select the tab or window you want to record.

Step 3: Perform the task

Work through the task normally:

  • click the items you usually click
  • enter the information you normally enter
  • move through the page in the same order you expect to reuse later

Step 4: Stop and save

  1. Click Stop Recording.
  2. Give the workflow a clear name.
  3. Save it.

Arrow-right Replay the workflow

After saving, open your workflow and run it again to confirm that it follows the same browser steps you just recorded.

This first replay is the fastest way to verify that:

  • the workflow saved correctly
  • the task is a good candidate for automation
  • the recording is ready for refinement if needed

Sparkle What to do next

Once the first recording works:

  1. Review it in the Browser Agent or web app.
  2. Clean up any unnecessary steps.
  3. Add variables or more reusable inputs if needed.
  4. Share it with teammates or use it as the basis for a broader workflow.

Lightbulb Tips

  • Start with a short workflow, not your most complex process.
  • Use a descriptive name so teammates know what the workflow does.
  • Record in a clean, predictable way the first time.
  • Test before relying on it for higher-volume work.
